Mustard & Moxie Launches Small Queer Business Marketing for LGBTQ+ Entrepreneurs
This workshop series for small business owners helps demystify marketing
Mustard & Moxie is pleased to announce a new small business marketing workshop series for LGBTQ+ entrepreneurs, designed to support small business owners with established businesses who are looking to grow. Allies of the LGBTQ+ community are welcome to participate as well.
A Practical Approach to Marketing for LGBTQ+ Entrepreneurs
The six-session online program, led by Mustard & Moxie founder Anna Boudinot, focuses on helping participants build marketing strategies that align with their business’s challenges and goals.
"Entrepreneurs who [have] trusted, experienced advisors in their network who they could lean on for business advice scale their businesses more quickly."
“My capstone project for my MBA entailed studying the factors that led to the success of small businesses,” Anna remarked. “One of these factors was simply access to information: Entrepreneurs who had trusted, experienced advisors in their network who they could lean on for business advice scaled their businesses more quickly. Being able to gain such knowledge just by picking up their phone is a huge advantage. One of my goals with Small Queer Business Marketing is to arm small business owners with the information they need to make wise decisions about their marketing.”
Rather than giving generic advice or promoting one-size-fits-all tactics, Anna meets each workshop participant “where they are at” and helps them put together an individualized marketing program that is manageable and sustainable.
"As someone who felt marketing was out of my reach, I now feel confident with my marketing plan and excited to move forward with implementation.”
“Anna is very knowledgeable and a joy to take classes with,” said Joanna Malfatti, a percussionist, music teacher, and founder of Joanna’s Drum School. “The live format helped me to stay focused and engaged, and it fostered a sense of community and support. As someone who felt marketing was out of my reach, I now feel confident with my marketing plan and excited to move forward with implementation.”
What This LGBTQ+ Small Business Marketing Workshop Covers
The workshop series is structured to walk participants through the core components of an effective marketing strategy, from defining a value proposition to identifying competitors and understanding target audiences.
Later sessions focus on building marketing personas, evaluating marketing channels such as email and social media, and developing a clear, actionable plan that participants can implement immediately. Participants also gain clarity on which marketing tactics they can or should DIY and when it’s time to hire a professional instead.
“I have a private therapy practice that provides mental health services and sex therapy to the queer community,” explained Clinton Scheidt, LMFT, owner of Queer Therapy. “During the workshops, I was able to explore and identify other target segments within the queer community to whom I could tailor my marketing strategies in order to reach new clients. To be clear, I had no idea what ‘target segments’ even were until Anna eloquently explained them!”
"She showed me that the formula to my marketing was right in front of me."
Each session is 90 minutes and held live on Zoom, with time built in for conversation and feedback. The goal is not just to teach marketing concepts, but also to help small business owners apply them directly to their work.
“Anna guided me towards a deeper understanding of what inspired me to be a body worker in the first place. She showed me that the formula to my marketing was right in front of me, and that I have so much to offer that my competitors can’t,” said Dayn Kerns, Certified Massage Therapist and founder of Transfigure Massage. As a queer and trans massage therapist striving to create a comfortable, safe, and trauma-informed environment for all people, he found that the workshops gave him “More confidence and drive to spread my work further than I ever imagined, now with the knowledge on how to reach and attract clients.”

Community-Focused Learning for Queer Entrepreneurs
Unlike many marketing courses for small business owners, this series is built around a cohort model. Participants move through the program together, creating space for collaboration, shared problem-solving, and relationship-building. At its core, the series reframes marketing as a tool for clarity and connection: one that can be adapted to the realities of queer-owned businesses and the communities they serve.
“As a gay business owner, being able to talk openly and honestly about marketing specifically to the queer community was incredibly beneficial. From the beginning of the workshop, Anna established a safe space and warm demeanor for the queer attendees, which I haven’t always experienced in the ‘business’ world,” Scheidt added.
"As a gay business owner, being able to talk openly and honestly about marketing... was incredibly beneficial."
Optional virtual “happy hours” offer additional opportunities to connect, while between-session assignments encourage participants to put ideas into practice in real time.
The program also includes a one-on-one follow-up meeting with Anna one month after the series ends, providing accountability and continued support as participants refine their marketing strategies.
Accessible Pricing for Small Business Marketing Education
In an effort to make marketing education for LGBTQ small business owners more accessible, the program uses a tiered pricing model, including a pay-as-you-wish option.
Participants who are able to pay the supporter rate help offset costs for others, while those facing financial constraints can choose a price that works for them—no explanation required.
This approach reflects a broader goal: making practical marketing support available to business owners who might otherwise be priced out of it.
Cohorts Open for Registration
The online queer small business marketing workshops run in multiple cohorts with sessions offered on different days of the week to accommodate varying schedules.
Cohorts are capped at five participants each to facilitate a tight-knit group and plenty of time for discussion.
